Michelle Postlethwaite

Find out more about me here.

I started dancing at the age of 9 at the Olga Wilmot school of dancing in Ipswich. It all began when my friend introduced me to the Saturday morning class and soon I was hooked into the ballroom world.I worked my way through the ISTD and NATD medal systems before entering onto the open circuit with my partner where we became regular finalists and represented our country as youth competitors. At the age of 19, I was approached by my original teacher to ask if I would consider teaching for them at Olga Wilmot.I have never looked back. My love and passion for dance could now be passed onto others.  As a professional, I won the prestigious ISTD Pierre trophy on two occasions and was a finalist of the Closed British Latin American championships. I have had the privilege of lecturing on three occasions for the ISTD at their annual Congress in both genres. Always aspiring to learn, I progressed through the professional examinations and am now extremely honoured to have been appointed an Examiner of amateurs and professionals for the ISTD and work alongside some great names in dance on the Latin Committee.
My final dream has now become true as I open my very own dance Academy. I can continue to pass on my knowledge and experience of  Ballroom and Latin dancing and watch as the passion grows within others. Michelle is now a founding member of Feather Steps Dance Academy alongside Crystal and Jemma.
